The Hague Network is launching a new online MOOC on AI & Didactics, designed specifically for teachers and professors in higher education. This course offers a practical, critical introduction to AI literacy, assessment design, equity, and emerging teaching practices in the age of AI.
Register here: https://forms.office.com/e/qpqFHfn5ML
The MOOC runs from 24 March to 26 May and consists of eight live online sessions (60 minutes each), led by experts from partner universities across Europe. Sessions include topics such as AI in teaching and assessment, student perspectives on AI, inclusive and ethical use of AI, automating research, creating custom AI agents, and an optional capstone workshop to redesign your own AI-aware teaching materials .
Each session combines short presentations with interactive elements and moderated Q&A, making it easy to apply insights directly to your own courses.
đ Registration is now open: https://forms.office.com/e/qpqFHfn5ML Teachers and professors interested in strengthening their AI literacy and future-proofing their teaching are encouraged to register and join the sessions.
Claudia Diers-Linke & Tamara Lewis, The Hague University of Applied Sciences
An opening session that builds community through introductions and establishes a shared foundation for AI literacy by outlining seminar goals and exploring discipline-neutral scenarios of AI use for teachers and students.
Andrea HoleĹĄinskĂĄ, Masaryk University
Discover how AI can strengthen rather than shortcut critical thinking. This session dives into real classroom practice, showing how prompt wordingâand even language choiceâshapes AI output. Through handsâon comparisons in participantsâ native languages, youâll uncover hidden biases, mistranslations, and cultural nuances. Expect an active, eyeâopening exploration of how to use AI as a tool and a topic for critical inquiry.
Student-led session
Step into your studentsâ world. In this roleâreversal session, students share how they actually use AIâwhat helps them learn, what confuses them, and where they push boundaries. Teachers listen, ask questions, and gain an unfiltered view of real practices across disciplines. This is a rare chance to recalibrate assumptions and understand the literacies students are already developing.
Sami Sohonen, Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Generative AI is reshaping what counts as authentic student work. This session shows why unsupervised assignments are becoming unreliableâand what to do instead. Youâll explore assessment designs that emphasize experimentation, collaboration, and deeper reasoning. Along the way, youâll see how AI can act as a personalised tutor and problemâsolving partner. Expect interactive moments and concrete examples you can apply immediately.
University Francisco de Vitoria
AI literacy doesnât have to be dry. UFV presents their innovative comic and podcast series Beyond the Algorithm, designed to help teachers engage with AI concepts through storytelling and accessible media. Youâll explore how creative formats can make AI training more relatable, memorable, and funâand consider how similar approaches could enrich your own teaching.
Naomi McLaughlan, Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences
AI can widen accessâor widen gaps. This session helps you navigate both sides. Through short examples and guided reflection, youâll examine how adaptive technologies can support multilingual, neurodiverse, and otherwise diverse learners, while staying alert to embedded biases. Youâll leave with practical strategies for using AI tools ethically and inclusively in your own teaching.
Roberto di Quirico, University of Cagliari
Research is entering an era of semiâautomated and fully autonomous âArtificial Researchers.â This session demystifies the tools already reshaping literature reviews, data analysis, and knowledge production. Youâll explore what this means for teachingâespecially the new skills Masterâs and PhD students needâand reflect on how âArtificial Teachersâ may soon support or complement your own role. A forwardâlooking session for anyone preparing students for the future of scholarship.
Chris Bell, University of Derby
Curious how simple AI agents can support curriculum design? This practical session demonstrates how tools like MS Copilot can map professional competencies to learning outcomes, suggest aligned assessments, and spark deeper pedagogical reflection. Youâll see live examples of agents translating complex requirements into clear teaching strategiesâshowing how AI can act as a catalyst for more thoughtful course design.
Handsâon workshop
Turn inspiration into action. In this final, optional workshop, youâll create one concrete output tailored to your own course or programmeâan AIâaware assignment redesign, a student activity, or a syllabus policy paragraph. Guided prompts and peer exchange help you transform ideas from the seminar series into a readyâtoâuse teaching intervention.

What entails sustainability as a competence? Around these questions several teachers and researchers of THN met in The Hague. Institutions of Higher Education have a moral and societal duty to prepare our students to be world citizens who consider the societal and environmental impact of their actions. By raising awareness of climate-related issues as well as frameworks through which students, and future rofessionals, can reflect on their environmental impact higher education institutions will be able to increase their impact in the fight against climate change. This in turn will encourage increase civic engagement as students (and graduates) as agents of change who are active citizens. Colleagues from Spain, Czech Republic, Finland and the UK held lively discussion around this theme and the GreenComp, a reference framework for sustainability competences and how to let these concretely land in our curricula. The colleagues intend to hand in a KA2 call early 2025 on this particular topic.

The first participants from HSRW received their certificates for the THN-VE. A total of 15 students from all four faculties successfully completed their virtual exchange. Feedback from students on the courses has been overwhelmingly positive. Just the registration process for the courses was a bit challenging depending on how many courses were chosen. Students would like to have one central registration for this: âDespite early problems registering with the partner universities and accessing courses, the experience was definitely worth it in the end,â said Celine Balle, student at HSRW. âMy degree programme in International Relations also offers a module on Intercultural Management, but the module offered by our partner university in Spain was structured very differently and offered other perspectives and approaches to the topic. We all found it very interesting.â
